Rawls Drive Sidewalk Project

We are installing a new sidewalk!

The Rawls Drive Sidewalk Project is the product of a successful sidewalk petition the City received in the spring of 2019.

We plan to install a five-foot-wide sidewalk with a three-and-a-half-foot setback from the curb along the east side of the street from Poole Road to Friar Tuck Road.

Adjustments to the sidewalk width and setback may be included in the final design to avoid significant impacts in certain areas as needed and determined by our Engineering staff.

Construction updates

March 2025

The contractors have completed work on the following streets: Freeman Street (from the existing sidewalk to Postell Street), Postell Street (from Freeman Street to Coleman Street), and the west side of Coleman Street (from Postell Street to the existing sidewalk). They plan to finish work on the east side of Coleman Street in April.

Additionally, crews have started construction on Brighton Road (from Glascock Street to North King Charles Road). They will begin working on Rawls Drive once the projects on Coleman Street and Brighton Road are completed.

We have combined the project with our Brighton Road and Freeman/Postell/Coleman St projects for construction.
