Planning

Raleigh Stormwater received reports of flooding in the Saybrook at the Falls neighborhood.  During large rainfall events, floodwaters were observed flowing in the streets, driveways, and in some cases, reaching homes and garages.

Stormwater staff are completing a study in the Saybrook neighborhood to get a better understanding of flooding impacts.  The study includes developing an engineering model of the stormwater system and studying site and stream conditions. This information will help the City identify stormwater improvements.

The following work has been completed:

  • Survey of the stormwater system
  • Field work to evaluate site conditions
  • Development of a drainage system model
  • Evaluation of improvement project alternatives

Public Meeting

Raleigh Stormwater hosted a public meeting to receive feedback from residents in the Saybrook neighborhood. Information from the public meeting about the study can be found on the Saybrook Neighborhood Fact Sheet.

Next Steps

Next steps include finalizing the study report to document findings and recommendations.
