Developing Our Next Comprehensive Plan Timeline

Reflecting Raleigh - The Next Comprehensive Plan - Timeline

The City of Raleigh is embarking on a multi-year journey to write the city’s next comprehensive plan. Over the course of the next few years, we will engage with residents to develop, draft, and implement our new plan. Our process is centered around ensuring Raleigh’s unique needs and voices are reflected in our future plan.

Check back here for more information on future phases.

Phase 1 - Initial Engagement

July 2024-July 2025

We are currently in Phase 1 of developing the next plan. Throughout this phase, we are collaborating with Raleigh residents, neighborhoods organizations, and boards and commissions on the Reflecting Raleigh process. Residents can engage with us in person at community events and meetings or by sharing feedback through our online surveys.

Additionally, Raleigh is hosting a series of community conversations centered around affordable housing, stormwater, trees, infrastructure, neighborhood character, and transportation. How our city grows should reflect all of us, and we need your help shaping that vision.

More About the Comprehensive Plan

The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range policy document adopted and amended by the City Council. It establishes a vision for the city, provides policy guidance for growth and development, and contains action items directed at the City to implement the vision. Our current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2009 and amended in 2019, with policy guidance intended to shape how the city grows and develops through the year 2030.
