Weather

The Winter Storm Warning has expired, however temperatures remain at or slightly below freezing across much of central NC this morning. 

While the wintry mix of precipitation has come to an end, there may still be slick spots on roads, bridges, and elevated surfaces this morning. Temperatures will gradually rise above freezing after sunrise but in the meantime, please exercise caution if you have to travel this morning. Slow down and leave plenty of room in front of you.

City Services, Programs, and Facilities Impacted: 

GoRaleigh

  • Saturday, Jan. 11: 
    GoRaleigh and GoRaleigh Access are running on schedule. 
  • Please check GoRaleigh.org for additional updates or call the Regional Call Center at 919-485-RIDE (7433).

Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources 
Updated Saturday, Jan. 11 at 8:15 a.m.

  • Most Raleigh Parks operations will resume at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 11. 
  • Field Status: January 11 is Code Red, which indicates all outdoor field activity is postponed

Solid Waste Services (SWS)
Updated: Thursday, Jan. 9 at 4:20 p.m.

  • Central Business District (CBD)
    SWS operations in the Central Business District (CBD), the area bounded by Peace Street to the north, Blount Street to the east, Cabarrus Street to the south, and West Street to the west, will be altered Saturday, January 11. Businesses in the CBD will not be serviced on Saturday to minimize potential hazards to our crews. Sunday CBD collections will be operating on a four hour delay.  
  • Yard Waste Center (YWC)
    The Yard Waste Center will be closed on Saturday, January 11 to minimize potential hazards during inclement weather. The safety of our staff and residents is paramount to our operation and we must take appropriate precautions. The Yard Waste Center will resume standard operations on Monday, January 13 at 7 a.m.

Downed Trees: 

  • Emergency - If you see a tree down on a road or involving power lines, call 911
  • Non-emergency - Report downed trees that are not in the roadway nor involving power lines to 919-996-3000.

Any type of wintry precipitation can make travel hazardous. The City of Raleigh's Transportation Department is prepared.

Our crews brined roads from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, covering more than 840 lane miles of roads throughout the city.
