We will spend the first session focusing on learning how to carve a design into a block and the second session dedicated to all that goes into printing those blocks. Simple Enameled Rings

Register for Simple Enameled Rings
In this weekend workshop, students will make rings inspired by abstract art using enamel powder on copper with sterling silver shanks. Students will learn to add inclusions like beads, wire, or casting grain as embellishments to create motif. We’ll then explore a couple methods for connecting the motif to a ring shank. Experience with vitreous enamels and/or basic metalsmithing knowledge is helpful but not a prerequisite. A $15 materials fee due to instructor on the first day of class. Instructor accepts Cash, Venmo, or Credit Card. 2 sessions.
Beaded Bliss

Join us for an engaging and hands-on experience that combines the art of collage with various mixed media techniques. This class is designed to inspire creativity, encourage self-expression, and explore the limitless possibilities of combining different materials and techniques in journaling. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of collage, including composition, layering, and cutting techniques. They will also be introduced to a variety of mixed media materials such as watercolor, gouache, pastels, markers, and found objects. Through guided exercises and demonstrations, students will gain confidence in their ability to create unique and expressive collages. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to experiment with different textures, colors, and patterns to create visually captivating journal pages. They will learn how to incorporate personal photographs, printed images, and meaningful text into their collages, allowing for personal storytelling and reflection. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience in art journaling. By the end of the class, students will have developed a collection of vibrant and expressive mixed media journal pages, filled with their unique perspectives and artistic voice. Paste Paper and the Decorated Spine

Registration for Paste Paper and the Decorated Spine opens Dec. 3
Make 3 lovely books using your own handmade paste papers that show through the spine of the books. We’ll explore pattern and color making a selection of paste papers. Then we'll incorporate them into 3 unique books: the Coptic Book, the Romanesque Binding, and the Window Longstitch. We’ll include pockets, fold-outs, and envelopes to include in our books. We'll practice adding hard covers as well as working with leather on the spine of a hardcover book. All journals will include 100% rag text paper and elements of handmade or commercial book cloth. Supply fee of $55 payable to the instructor at the first class. Students should bring an apron or wear painting clothes on the first class for paste paper making. This class qualifies students for a Book Studio membership. 6 sessions.

Not all blocks are equal; different people enjoy different textures and a different firmness to their printing block. But with all the options out there, how do you know where to start? In this class we will explore a variety of different blocks to carve designs into, see how they print, and discuss the pros and cons of each one, how different materials lend themselves to different techniques and linework, and how that can affect the images you choose to print. This class is beginner friendly, but also suitable for more experienced printmakers who are used to only one kind of block and want to try something new! Supply list prints on receipt. This class qualifies students for a Print Studio membership. 6 sessions.
