Celebrate love and creativity in this hands-on water-marbling workshop! In this delightful, family-friendly activity, you'll learn the mesmerizing art of water-marbling and transform it into unique Valentine's Day cards. The workshop begins with an introduction to basic marbling techniques, and participants will practice creating stunning designs on paper. Once they've mastered the basics, they'll use their new skills to craft personalized marbled cards, perfect for sharing with loved ones or keeping as cherished mementos. Designed for kids ages 6 and up, this workshop will surely spark joy and inspire your inner artist! Families should register their child, who should be accompanied in class by one adult caregiver. A $20 supply fee is due to the instructor at the start of class.

Using an array of stunning Indian taffeta weaves and glorious amounts of beads we will work our way using the fabric pattern as a guide to generate beautifully beaded necklaces that play with the pattern underneath while adding the right amount of spark. Continue to expand your skills working independently and on assigned projects to further your knowledge of jewelry techniques. Explore methods of stone-setting and hollow-form construction. Students may purchase and/or bring in their own metal for projects. Supply kits will be available for purchase from Pullen Arts Center for $25. The kit will provide each student with solder, saw blades, drill bits, sandpaper and a small amount of copper to get started on projects. Prerequisite: Beginning Metals at Pullen or Sertoma Arts Center. 6 sessions.

In this course we will be experimenting with multiple media and collage techniques to create exciting mixed media collages. This is an exploratory class which teaches process and encourages imagination and play. Bring source materials to work with including but not limited to: photographs, magazines, papers, fabrics, and sketches you want to use in your collages. Photographs and other images of interest that tell a personal narrative are helpful. No experience is necessary. Supply list prints on receipt. 5 sessions.

Join us for an engaging and hands-on experience that combines the art of collage with various mixed media techniques. This class is designed to inspire creativity, encourage self-expression, and explore the limitless possibilities of combining different materials and techniques in journaling. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of collage, including composition, layering, and cutting techniques. They will also be introduced to a variety of mixed media materials such as watercolor, gouache, pastels, markers, and found objects. Through guided exercises and demonstrations, students will gain confidence in their ability to create unique and expressive collages. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to experiment with different textures, colors, and patterns to create visually captivating journal pages. They will learn how to incorporate personal photographs, printed images, and meaningful text into their collages, allowing for personal storytelling and reflection. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience in art journaling. By the end of the class, students will have developed a collection of vibrant and expressive mixed media journal pages, filled with their unique perspectives and artistic voice. In this one day workshop we will utilize the packaging material Tetra Pak to make unique shaped prints. Often used to package soups, stocks and other shelf stable liquids, Tetra Pak also makes an eco and budget friendly printing plate. After an introduction to the technique with printed samples and demo plates, students will receive material and create their own plates. We’ll use the second part of the day to explore inking and printing these plates on a traditional etching press. Open to artists of all levels, repeat students welcome. Instructor will provide the recycled Tetra Pak materials. Ink and tools will be supplied but printmaking paper (explained at the start of workshop) will need to be purchased from Pullen Arts, approximately $15-20. 1 session.
