Transportation Celebrates Micromobility Art Contest Winners

This spring, we invited Raleigh students to envision a world where transportation is not only accessible but also sustainable. We were thrilled to see the incredible response to the Micromobility Program’s first art contest, which ran from May 13 to June 7, 2024.

An artist review panel selected 24 creative pieces, which are now proudly displayed across 28 of the city’s 31 bikeshare stations. The contest received submissions from students in every district in Raleigh and all districts are represented amongst the winning submissions. Four submissions were printed twice and featured at multiple locations due to the exceptional ratings these submissions received from the artist review panel. 

Contest Overview
Students from grades K-12 across Raleigh submitted their original artwork, reflecting on the theme of sustainable transportation. The contest aimed to inspire young artists to think about eco-friendly ways to move around the city.

Participation and Submissions
Participants submitted their 8.5” x 11” two-dimensional artworks through various methods, including online uploads and in-person drop-offs. Each piece creatively interpreted the theme, showcasing the students’ remarkable talents and their visions for a greener future.

Judging and Prizes
Entries were judged based on creativity, interpretation of the theme, composition, and age appropriateness. The winning artworks were selected to be displayed at bikeshare stations throughout Raleigh, offering a unique platform for young artists to contribute to the city’s sustainable transportation goals.
