Commander Joshua Wallace is a highly respected law enforcement executive with over 25 years of experience in public safety, intelligence operations, and community engagement.
As the Commander of the Criminal Network Group in the Chicago Police Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism, he leads strategic initiatives that target organized crime, narcotics enforcement, gang investigations, and interagency collaboration. He oversees more than 900 officers across various specialized units and plays a crucial role in intelligence-driven crime reduction efforts that enhance public safety and disrupt criminal enterprises.
Throughout his distinguished career, Commander Wallace has held key leadership positions, including District Commander, where his data-driven crime suppression strategies significantly reduced violent crime rates. He has also played a crucial role in planning security for major events, notably leading interagency coordination efforts for the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
A graduate of the FBI National Academy, he has also completed executive leadership programs at Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, as well as the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP). Furthermore, he holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security and a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Management. Recognized for his expertise in constitutional policing, crisis management, and multi-agency partnerships, his leadership is defined by a commitment to transparency, accountability, and strengthening community trust, ensuring that law enforcement remains effective and equitable.
Beyond operational leadership, Commander Wallace is a committed advocate for officer mental health and wellness. He co-developed a mental health and wellness course for police recruits and continues to support initiatives that enhance officer resilience and well-being.
