Teddy the therapy Dog

RPD's Newest Member: Teddy the Therapy Dog

This news article is more than a year old.

We are thrilled to introduce you to one of our newest members, Teddy🐶! Teddy is our department's first-ever therapy dog in training, and we are excited to have him on board. He will play an important role in building emotional support for us.

Dr. Erickson, a psychologist for the department, talked about the need for Teddy here at RPD.

"Research suggests that dogs can be a comforting, nonjudgmental presence while providing a positive tactile grounding experience as well as a sensory distraction," she said. "I'm delighted that we have our own therapy dog. Teddy will bring joy and comfort to all RPD employees, especially after difficult calls and critical incidents."

We thank the Raleigh Police Department Foundation for their support in bringing Teddy to us. Teddy will have a positive impact on our department and the community. Check out his introduction video.  We are excited to see the difference he'll make.
