The Raleigh Police Department (RPD) is launching CONNECTRALEIGH, a video camera-sharing public safety program, to help keep the community safe. The community's voluntary participation is a proactive step to increasing real-time information for data-guided emergency responses.
The camera registry program helps build an interactive map of security cameras in Raleigh that will:
- Be accessible only to the Raleigh Police Department;
- Increase the efficiency of direct video evidence collection;
- Enable communities to work together to create a safer Raleigh; and,
- Provide immediate camera owner contact information for investigators.
In the spirit of transparency, the RPD will host community listening sessions across the city over the next few weeks. Sessions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
