What if my permit has expired? Will my project have to be reviewed again? What to do about an expired zoning permit? Will any fees apply?

Permits expire based on state and local regulations. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to be aware of when a permit expires. This information can be found in the permit portal under the "summary" details.

What if my permit has expired?

If the permit has expired please email the following to expiredpermits@raleighnc.gov.

  1. Complete a new permit application that only includes the following:
    1. Current application date
    2. Reference to the original permit
    3. Updated contractor information
    4. Owner/Agent Signature on the application
  2. Additional information may be requested

Will my project have to be reviewed again?

Appropriate reviews will be conducted. If state or local codes have changed since your original approval, you will be required to meet the current code.

What to do about an expired zoning permit?

An expired zoning permit will require an applicant to apply for a new permit.

Will any fees apply?

Yes, for residential customers a minimum permit fee will apply. For commercial customers, a minimum permit fee per trade will apply.
