The Teen Virtual Art Show is a collection of eclectic pieces produced by participants of the City of Raleigh's Teen Outreach Programs (TOPs). TOPs is an after-school program hosted at seven community centers around the city that serve middle and high school students.
Inspired by the teachings of local Arts Specialist Nieya Garland, the teens created various pieces representative of famous art forms, artists, and abstract concepts. Originally slated to showcase at the Saint Monica Teen Center earlier this spring, this art show is now virtual and available for all to see and experience from anywhere.

Cubism
Cubism was first started by the amazing Pablo Picasso. Unlike the other art of its time, Cubism is a style of art that shows multiple viewpoints and has aspects of cubes or geometrical shapes.
The teens have demonstrated their mastery of cubism with the use of self-portraits and crayons.
Pop Art
Andy Warhol & Roy Lichtenstein are well known for the work they contributed to Pop Art. It is art that appropriates from mass media and is commonly mass-produced. Art in this category is most often bold, bright, and fun.
The teens have demonstrated their mastery of Pop Art with inspiration from comics and their favorite onomatopoeia words.
Pointillism
George Seurat is a neo-impressionist artist known for developing the Pointillist method. Pointillism is an art technique that uses small distinct dots to form an image. The technique does not require mixing colors, therefore, pointillism focuses on the optical illusion of the color theory
The teens have demonstrated their mastery of pointillism with the use of Q-tips, Paint, and markers.
Collaborative
This room contains group artwork that was inspired by the amazing, contemporary artist, Kehinde Wiley. The teens collectively agreed on a person, then worked together to create a background and assembled the two together. The other pieces are art that the teens have made on their own time at home.
