COR Museum Hires New Director

The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources department is pleased to announce Abigail (Abby) Kellerman as the new Director of the City of Raleigh Museum. Abby has a BA in History and Art History from Duquesne University and an MA in Public History with a concentration in Museum Studies from NC State University. She most recently served as the Assistant Director at Historic Oak View. Abby has become the second Director of the City of Raleigh Museum since the City took over management in 2012. In her role, Abby will direct all day-to-day programs and operations for the COR Museum as well as oversee the Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum. Abby immediately succeeds Ernest Dollar who recently was promoted as the first Section Head for Museums within Raleigh’s Historic Resources and Museums Program.

Raleigh City Council created the Historic Resources and Museum Program with the express purpose of protecting and programming identified cultural, museum, and historic resources within the City of Raleigh including Borden Building and Stone Circle at Fletcher Park, Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum, City of Raleigh Museum, Fred Fletcher Amphitheater at Fletcher Park, John Chavis Memorial Park Carousel – Conservation and Heritage Plaza, John P. “Top” Greene Community Center, Latta University Historic Park, Moore Square, Mordecai Historic Park, Pope House Museum, Pullen Park Historic Attractions, Raleigh Trolleys, and Tucker House. Additionally, the HRM Program manages an artifact collection of more than 30,000 objects of material culture.
