That's a Wrap: 2024 Affordable Housing Summit Recap

Affordable Housing Summit Recap

On Aug. 17, the City of Raleigh took an important step toward addressing the challenge of housing affordability with the Affordable Housing Summit. Hundreds of community members, City leaders and experts gathered to learn more about this pressing issue and the solutions the City is working towards to solve this crisis.

Organized by Housing and Neighborhoods and Planning and Development, this event emphasized three main themes:

  • Homelessness is a Housing Problem - We can end homelessness by putting more resources into housing
  • Affordable rental development - It’s important to have a mix of different, dense housing types to make affordable rental options available
  • Innovation in affordable housing - We can learn from peer communities and the City is a leader on new affordable housing efforts, like the Homelessness Response Pilot Program

Participants gained valuable insights into the current state of housing in Raleigh, explored innovative solutions and considered practical ways to put these ideas into action.

This event highlighted the City’s ongoing efforts to ensure Raleigh remains an inclusive place for all. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, both in person and online, for contributing to this meaningful step forward. The community’s involvement is crucial as we work together for a better future for our city.
