Raleigh City Council has added another piece to the affordable housing puzzle. On Tuesday, Council approved the sale of two properties to Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.
Habitat Wake will purchase the two parcels at 24 and 428 S. Bloodworth Street for $200,000 and build four affordable homes on the site. These homes will be sold to first-time homebuyers earning up to 60% and 80% of the area median income (AMI). Habitat has committed to keeping these homes affordable for at least 99 years. This will secure these homes for future generations.
In December 2023, Council approved the sale of City-owned land to Habitat Wake for one dollar.
Council’s approval reflects its strong commitment to supporting affordable housing in Raleigh. This project will help more people achieve their dream of owning a home and building a better life for themselves and their families.
