The board's mission is to promote, coordinate, and strengthen the advocacy and advancement of public programs within the Historic Resources and Museum Program and to further the cultural development of the City of Raleigh.

Upcoming Meetings

Meetings are held every fourth Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Mordecai Historic Park Visitor Center, 1 Mimosa Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Meeting Dates and Locations

Advisory Board meetings and committee meetings are open to the public. Meeting locations are subject to change.

Call 919-996-4772 to verify a particular meeting time and place if you are planning to attend. Meetings are subject to change following public notice of at least 48 hours.

In addition to the regular members of the Board, there may be ex-officio, non-voting members as follows: one representative of the City Council, and one representative of the Parks, Recreation, and Greenway Advisory Board.

The HRMAB, upon recommendation of the Chair and approval by the HRMAB, may appoint additional ex-officio, non-voting members to serve at any given time.

Vision

The vision of the HRMAB is to be a leader in the advocacy and advancement of programming, preservation, communication, and public involvement associated with Raleigh’s museums, historic sites, and historic attractions, recognizing these are essential contributors to the economy and quality of life of Raleigh and its citizens. 

Further, this Advisory Board is to advance public programs, encourage efficient operations, and support staff in efforts to provide all Raleigh citizens and visitors diverse opportunities for cultural engagement, education, and stewardship, understanding always that the story of Raleigh is the story of American democracy.  The success of the Board will be measured by the quality of visitation and volunteer involvement combined with the quality of programming, collections stewardship, and historic interpretation.
