On the eve of the final Dreamville Festival, festival organizers from Dreamville and Raleigh City Manager Marchell Adams-David announced that this would not be the last music festival in Dix Park.
Adams-David joked that as the festival date approached, she refused to admit this would be the final one.
“And now I don’t have to!” she laughed.
Sascha Stone Guttfreund, the festival’s promoter, says he looks forward to bringing the same quality product to Raleigh. Along with Dreamville co-founders Adam Roy and Ibrahim Hamad, the team praised the teamwork of Raleigh officials to make the festival a success each year.
“Working with the (City of Raleigh) has been an absolute pleasure,” Roy said.
City of Raleigh Parks Director Stephen Bentley drew attention to the hard work and dedication of his staff in making the festival a continued commercial and critical success.
“It really does take a village,” he said. “It takes all of us working together to build something that’s unique.”
The popular music festival is the creation of global superstar and Fayetteville native J. Cole and Dreamville, the internationally recognized entertainment brand and multi-platinum record label for which he cofounded; and produced by ScoreMore Shows, a subsidiary of Live Nation Entertainment. It will be held at Raleigh's Dix Park on April 5 and April 6. Last year, fans from all 50 states and multiple countries flocked to Raleigh to see the two-day festival.
Headliners for this year’s lineup include Lil Wayne featuring The Hot Boys with Juvenile, Turk, and B.G. alongside Big Tymers with Mannie Fresh and Birdman, 21 Savage, Tems and Erykah Badu who will join J. Cole at this year's Dreamville Festival. Along with the music lineup, guests can enjoy more than 75 food and beverage vendors, muralists, artisans, nonprofit organizations, and other small businesses from Raleigh and across North Carolina.
The festival has an enormous economic impact on the community. Previous editions drew more than 100,000 total guests, and this weekend is expected to be no different.
